My Mind Keeps Writing Checks

My son said, “Dad, could you come and help me move.”
I jumped into my truck and thought I’ll show him a thing or two.
We got my truck about half loaded with just some of his stuff,
My back was starting to hurt and I was feeling mighty rough.
O’ my mind keeps writing checks that my body just can’t cash.

The scouts said, “Sir, lets climb to the top of Mount Borah.”
What I should have said was not for all the taco’s in Sonora.
We camped down at the bottom and I made it clear to the top,
But it took two thousand dollars and chopper to get me off.
O’ my mind keeps writing checks that my body just can’t cash,

My wife said, “John, that sofa needs to go down to the curb.”
I was feeling mighty macho and that was all I heard.
I grabbed that big ol’ love seat and took it down to the street,
And when I set it down, I couldn’t stand upon my feet.
O’ my mind keeps writing checks that my body just can’t cash.
And if things keep going on this way,
Their going to put me in the trash.
